What to Do on "Job Interview Day"
- Get up early enough so you will not have to rush
- Eat something. We do not want your stomach churning during the interview.
- Make sure you know where to go. Have the right address, cross streets, floor and contact person. Use MapQuest or Google Maps if you have to.
- Leave home early enough to anticipate travel delays
- Get to your interview building at least 30 minutes before the interview but do not go inside yet. Wind down for at least 5 - 10 minutes before you enter the building.
- Allow enough time to go through security and get your visitor's pass. Try to get to the interview at least 10 -15 minutes before your scheduled interview time. I like to get there early because I look around and like to observe people come in and out. It gives me a quick sense of the climate.

- Be nice to the receptionist. If you do not treat the receptionist right, the interviewers will know about it after you leave.
- Give a firm handshake and a smile when meeting the interviewer(s). No one likes a wimpy handshake.
- Wait to be seated or ask the interviewer(s) where to sit
- Ask if anyone needs a copy of your resume (always bring extra copies with you)
- If they offer you something to drink, only water is acceptable. Water will keep your mouth from getting dry during the interview.
- Before you start, write down the names of all interviewers so that you can refer to them by name during the interview. If they have business cards with their information, that would be ideal.
- Listen to the questions first. Then answer, If you do not understand the question, ask to repeat it.
- Be yourself. Sound excited. Show enthusiasm.
- Remember to relax and sell yourself, sell yourself, sell yourself!
- After the interview, send a thank-you letter or email to each person you met with. Please make sure that you spell all names properly and get their titles correct.
