An interview is an opportunity for you and the potential employer to have a conversation about the job, your skills and abilities. The objective of the interview is to convince the employer that you are the right person for the job. Once you know the objective, you have to put your own marketing strategy in place to make sure the objective is met.
The interview is your chance to sell yourself. Do not be shy about this. When the qualifications between two people are equal, the interview will be the deciding factor on who gets the job.
